BISUN
Brendan Martinez, known artistically as BISUN, is a multifaceted creator from Kansas, blending his Mexican and Nigerian heritage with a powerful visual language. His works span graffiti, ink drawing, mural painting, and acrylic painting, often exploring themes of liberation—both societal and personal. The name BISUN, derived from "sun," symbolizes the light that shines upon his diverse cultural roots. It also carries significance as a nod to the Buffalo, Kansas’ state animal, and the Buffalo Soldiers, a historical group tied to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. BISUN's motto, "Radiate with the light of two suns," speaks to his mission of bringing awareness to our inner light through his art.
Since leaving Kansas in 2012, BISUN has shared his work across the U.S., with exhibitions and murals in cities such as Washington, D.C., Houston, TX, Phoenix, AZ, and most recently, New York City. His art remains a vehicle for personal expression and social commentary, inviting viewers to reflect on the struggles for freedom and the broader human experience.
